Web Based Business Educational Training: An Overview

MVI offers both Compact Disc based training and Web Based training. Both software packages allow the administrator (whoever is setting up the training / providing the content) to create meaningful lessons using a web browser to enter all information. They would simply log in to the system, and use an intuitive web based interface to enter all text and pictures, etc that is necessary to convey the material.

The administrator can then create tests by typing the questions and possible answers to those questions. They will mark the correct answer, and specify the minimum acceptable level for passing. They can then set these tests active for other users.

From a user (trainee) perspective, MVI's web based training will take the user through a series of lessons delivered by text, images, video, or other supported files. Upon completing a lesson, the user will be presented with the test for that section. (which can be in the form of true/ false questions, multiple choice, or essays). When an answer is selected, the user will receive immediate feedback from the system. If the wrong answer is selected, a reference to the specific text outlining that topic will be presented.

At the end of each lesson, the web based training system calculates the user's score for that lesson. If the user "passes" that lesson, he can go on to the next lesson; otherwise, he cannot and must retake the lesson. The program keeps track of results for a number of different users, so that the administrator of the web based training program can track progress of each person individually.

To go along with our desktop-based training system, MVI has developed a Online training software and testing solution that gives corporate trainers and managers the ability to quickly and easily create tests for certification and recall confirmation. Now when a new employee finishes a online training program, they can login to a Web based interface and quickly be tested on what they have learned.

The system is managed entirely through a Web browser by the administrator and there are no complicated codes to learn or technologies to master. Simply name the test, enter the questions, mark the correct answers and sit back to see how the testers are doing. It is simplicity at it's best and makes the process of testing students, employees or clients a quick and easy process. With built-in user management and security and reporting tools, administrators can monitor student progress from their desktop computer.

· The user can register with the site by providing their information (username, password, first name, last name, email address, phone number, department and location/category).

·  The user can login to a password protected Web site only after the administrator approves them (an email is sent to user with login information and URL to login page).

·  The user will be able to view different lessons that are made available by the administrator (users will be restricted to lessons by their category). For example, a user whose category is 'Technical Support' cannot view lessons that have been assigned to the 'Operations' category.

·  The user will be able to take a test after completing each lesson.

Lesson and Testing Features:

·  The lessons are composed of a combination of text, images or video.

·  The users are only allowed to move onto the next question if they answer a question correctly.

·  If the user answers the question incorrectly a pop-up window will appear that corresponds to the section that the question addresses.

·  The system will also count the number of attempts it took a user to get an answer correct (the administrator will be able to limit the number of attempts for each question).

·  The user will not be able to move onto the next lesson until they pass the current lesson (the passing score is defined by the administrator through the admin section).

·  After a lesson is complete the user will see a summary page that displays the person's name, their category, each question and the number of attempts it took them to complete the question.

Administrative Features:

·  The administrator can login to a password protected admin section of the Web site.

·  The administrator will be able to add/edit/delete/approve users of the training system.

·  The administrator will be able to add/edit/delete/view individual lessons.

·  The administrator will be able to add/edit/delete/view tests and assign them to lessons. The administrator will also be able to assign a due date to the test that specifies the deadline for when the test should be completed.

·  The administrator will be able to add/edit/delete/view groups. The groups will be representative of each location and include a name (the location where they are), a group ID and the number of members in the group.

·  The administrator will be able to add/edit/delete/view categories. Lessons can be assigned a category (ex: customer service, operations, technical support, etc.).

·  The administrator will be able to view the test results of an individual for every lesson. The administrator will also be able to view a list of all users, sort users by location, sort users by lesson or search for an individual user.

·  The administrator will be able to send out bulk email to all users or email individual users on the training system.

·  The administrator will be able to edit/view the automatic emails that are sent out to users by the system.

Automatic Email Features:

·  The system will send a confirmation email after a user has registered with the training site and an email will be sent to the administrator notifying them that a new user has registered with the training site.

·  An email will be sent when the administrator approves a user's registration.

·  An email will also be sent to users who have not taken a test by the specified deadline and an email will be sent to the administrator with a list of users who have not taken a test.
