Newbaby.com Connects Moms and Technology
Newbaby.com approached MVI in the fall of 2007 as an existing web presence with the need to upgrade to the latest technology available. The objective was to develop a website primarily for video consumption meanwhile allowing mothers to connect through an online community which we call “Mom’s Corner”. MVI worked side by side with early motherhood experts to develop a user friendly, functionally sound, product that is most beneficial to its target audience. One of our foremost elements of newbaby.com is the ability to create a “wallet” of videos that members and non-members can email to friends, create an MRSS feed or create a widget capable of being transferred to multiple locations around the net. Some of the website’s features include expert videos, articles and an interactive web cam for real-time video upload. The website also offers community interaction features with all the latest user tools which include: member profiles, blogs, photo galleries and news in an online environment which allows mothers to connect via web technology. The extensive feature list cannot be summarized but only experienced here at www.newbaby.com.

MVI moves to Fedora Core 8 for dedicated servers
For years MVI has been using a customized base version of Redhat Linux 9 as their operating system for their dedicated servers. With the evolution of server hardware since the release of Redhat 9, newer hardware became harder and harder to find drivers for. There was a need for a new base system which could support new functionality and new hardware. That's when MVI started looking at Fedora Core 8 as its next possible operating system. After quite a bit a testing and customization, MVI is proud to announce that from now on, all of its new dedicated servers will be using a customized version of Fedora Core 8. This will allow our dedicated server customers to be able to take advantage of the latest, state-of-the-art hardware and software available for Linux-based platforms out on the market.

Healthocrates- Accurate Medical Information- Wiki Style
Healthocrates approached MVI in mid 2007. They had a problem and needed a solution. It started with a man that had a rare medical condition and couldn’t find the treatment he needed. He eventually found it by communicating with someone on a message board. Our customer realized the need for such a service, but realized there should be one site that everyone could go to. We realized the ‘user submitted’ format of wiki type sites could keep information up to the minute. We put an extra submission step in the submission process to ensure the information was accurate and of good quality. Healthocrates boasts video content placed into our articles as well, a feature not currently available on Wikipedia. Today the number of Healthocrates users continues to grow exponentially, making it one of the most actively used sites in the MVI family.

MVI Implements Clustering Solution
One of MVI's biggest hosting customers (Simpedia Networks - www.ecampusrecruiter.com) recently realized the need for a more advanced solution for their multi-server application. Originally when their site was launched (www.ecampusrecruiter.com) it was hosted on MVI's top-notch, redundant, shared hosting environment. However, their business and throughput needs grew so fast that they were soon on their own dedicated server. In a short span of time, they even outgrew their dedicated server and started requiring multiple servers which forced them to split their application amongst different domain names. Ever growing, Simpedia recently consulted with MVI to have a clustering implementation engineered and put into place. MVI is currently in the process of implementing this clustering solution and is set to have it ready by the end of the summer. With technologies such as load-balancing equipment, centralized storage systems and replicated database, this hosting implementation is the most complex that MVI has ever attempted to put together. MVI hopes that their new found experience and skill in this area will attract other customers looking for similar configurations.

MVI expands Hosting Facility to handle the continued growth expected
during 2007.
MVI's growth in the number of Web sites, dedicated servers and Internet
traffic has grown exponentially during the last several years. The graph
of this growth indicates MVI will increase bandwidth use, 40-50% growth
during 2007. This predicted growth requires MVI to increase bandwidth
and server capacity. MVI has begun this new expansion and we are anticipating
completion in late January. MVI's expansion plan includes upgrading server
technology, augment site storage capacity, increase available bandwidth
and modernize storage back up capabilities.MVI hosts all web sites and
web applications at one of the finest and most secure Tier 1 hosting facilities
in the USA.
The Network Access Point in Miami, Florida provides superior connectivity

Why and How to Outsource
Whether you listen to official American
business statistics or the guy down the street who used to work for IBM,
you seem to hear the same story everywhere today - information-technology
jobs are shifting overseas at a very high rate.
Software writing jobs are rapidly moving offshore. The Internet has made
doing business around the world easier, so for an American technology
company to outsource some programming overseas isn't as hard as it used
to be.
A prime example of this new technology model is MediaVue, a Florida company
that creates programs, software, application, and database-driven solutions.
MediaVue was one of the early innovators, utilizing outsourcing since
its inception in 1999. "We had two strategies for developing software
early on," says Jeff Douglas, President of MediaVue. "We used in-house
programmers for some projects and overseas outsourcing for others. It
quickly became obvious that the overseas route had a lot of advantages."
The benefits for MediaVue's customers were large, according to Jon DeLuca,
the company's CEO. "Pretty soon, we developed this great reputation -
our customers couldn't believe how much work we got done for the prices
we were charging. We were just saving so much from outsourcing that we
were able to price low and still be profitable."
MediaVue has survived and grown by having a strong staff of in-house project
managers who work with its customers to create solution models, then outsource
much of the programming work to coders around the globe. While its competition
closed down during the dot com bust, MediaVue grew and expanded its applications
and customers by offering state of the art software at competitive prices.
Typically MediaVue saves its clients a lot of money by utilizing the cost
advantages of hiring offshore developers, who can cost 20% to 40% of American
labor.
The question for owners of regular American companies is how to take advantage
of these cost savings. Managers realize that there is a cost savings to
outsourcing programming work overseas; but many companies who have tried
the experiment of overseas technology outsourcing have failed miserably.
Small to medium sized companies, whose budgets are tightest and so have
the most to gain from outsourcing, have had the greatest difficulty pulling
it off successfully.
"It's hard to do," according to Douglas. "It took us about two years to
really perfect the model. Until you actually manage 100 to 200 outsourced
technology projects, you won't learn how to do it properly. Small to medium
sized companies don't do anywhere near that level of technology initiatives
so they never learn the right way to outsource. That's why so many of
our new customers who call us say - 'I needed to get this application
programmed - a few months ago I hired this company from India to save
money but it didn't work out. Can you help me?' We hear it all the time."
Outsourcing technology development is, in fact, fraught with pitfalls.
How do you know the overseas company you are hiring is qualified? How
to you get the outsourced team to understand your business so they develop
the solution properly? How do you solve the communication problems given
the time zone differences? Once the application is complete, who supports
the technology? How do you quickly implement program improvements?
For a non-IT company, the best bet is often to hire a company like MediaVue
to complete the technology project.
"We give our customers the best of both worlds," says DeLuca. "We give
the very high level of service you expect when dealing with an established
U.S. based solutions provider. Our in-house technology staff handles the
business analysis, project specification, and ongoing technical support
and maintenance for every project. Customers want to know that they can
immediately resolve problems by picking up the telephone, and that they
are dealing with an established company that isn't going anywhere. On
the other hand, because we outsource so much of the brute programming
work, we can pass on substantial cost savings to our clients. Since we've
done so many outsourced projects, we know which programming teams are
qualified at which technologies; we can guarantee quality because we put
the right people on the job."
Outsourcing is, of course, wonderfully beneficial for the US economy.
While the job loss to programmers is painful, a recent report circulated
in the management consultant field said outsourcing helps US companies
become more profitable and cut prices to consumers. On the whole, across
the US economy, the gains outweigh the losses.
For American programmers who wish to stay in their field, the picture
isn't entirely bleak, provided they are willing to learn new skills. "Programming
jobs in particular are moving overseas, but not all technology jobs,"
notes Douglas. "Programmers who want to stay behind a computer and never
talk to a customer will become a dying breed in the U.S. But for programmers
who want to take on roles as project leaders, sales consultants, managers,
and cutting-edge technology innovators, there will be growing opportunities."

The tech sector is back, and it's back in a big
way.
Who says? The government, that's
who. Yeah, I know, who can trust them, right? Then again, if we don't
trust the numbers, where are we?
Evidence
It's all over the proverbial map. Production is up - jobs are more available
- earnings are up- the stock market is up, things must be better. Everyone's
careful not to raise expectations too much, and every CEO seems paralyzed
by the fear of calling a recovery.
Smart people trust the facts. The Bureau of Economic Affairs says investment
in information technology gained 15 percent in the third quarter. Not
too shabby. Actually, if you make price adjustments, the real number might
be closer to 20 percent.
What To Expect
Sure, the tech sector grew last quarter, they say, but how long will it
last? There might be a ton of pent-up demand out there, but then again,
that 15 percent quarter might have been all she wrote.
Why not just be brave enough and honest enough to admit that things are
getting better? If it doesn't last -- well, we'll make do somehow.
There's no shame in being an optimist. In fact, it was rather popular
not too long ago.

When Integrity Leads needed Sales Leads Management software for their
business they turned to the best. Through a series of conferences
and a comprehensive analysis, MediaVue learned the details of Integrity
Leads' business to give them the best possible sales leads manager for
their money. What resulted was a superior piece of software that gives
Integrity Leads supreme control over the management of their sales leads.
The Integrity Leads' Sales Leads Management software is based on MediaVue's
own Contact Manager.
The administration section of the site is where our software really excels.
From the administrator control panel a user can easily upload CSV lead
lists and change the sales lead status. The administrator can also do
bulk emailing to their sales leads and also has the ability to create
Excel sheets with their sales leads information in it. MediaVue's customized
Sales Leads Manager with advanced administrative features gave Integrity
Leads the edge they need to succeed.

MediaVue completes Office Supply e-commerce shopping cart of over 30,000
products.
Recently, Mediavue took on the task of building a fully functional e-commerce
shopping cart for a product line of over 30,000 office supply, technology,
and office furniture products. In order to build the shopping cart, Mediavue
utilized PHP as the server side scripting language and MySQL as the back-end
database. While there are a huge number of products to manage, Mediavue
was able to build a database conversion program, which allows updates
to be made to the product line quickly and easily. Through the use of
advanced database optimization and caching, Mediavue was also able to
make the site operate and load quickly. The shopping cart, which was fully
launched earlier this month, allows the site owner to control the daily
operations and management of the site without requiring much technical
or programming knowledge. The daily operations and site management is
controlled via a user-friendly administration panel.
From the very beginning of the project, one of the primary goals of office-supplies-store.com
was to provide customers with an interface that was easy to understand
and to navigate. Initial user feedback indicates that visitors of the
site prefer the navigation and ease of use over many of office-supplies-store.com's
competitors. The focus of the site is on the products, and office-supplies-store.com
makes every effort to avoid superfluous detail and information, which
can distract visitors. If you are ever looking for office supplies, office
furniture, or technology products, be sure to visit office-supplies-store.com
for competitive pricing and top-notch customer service.

MediaVue Develops Educational Software
Several months ago, MediaVue was contacted by an organization with a unique
purpose. This organization, known as Hi Tek Learning System, was a government
funded program which offered education to under privileged children. Their
primary focus was in providing basics of aviation to children who otherwise
wouldn't normally be exposed to that type of training.
MediaVue was brought in because the need for a scalable, robust web-based
application seemed more necessary than ever before. Hi Tek was expanding
into multiple states. With that growth, the management of the information
flow became key. MediaVue spent the next several months designing a complete
management suite that would allow Hi Tek the flexibility to expand and
manage their organization at a level which they previously could not.
Included in this system are:
- Trouble ticket system
- Calendar of events
- Automated student attendance
- Site management
- Complete automated user generation
- Student management
- Goal management
- And many more.
MediaVue's purpose and goals for this application were to allow for the
many user levels to operate independently in an efficient manner without
needing much education. We feel that this type of application could cross
over into any education-based organization. The ability to manage not
only students and their information, but the administrative staff provides
a level of functionality not often seen in commercial applications.
March 2003
Latin Pop Sensation Donato Poveda chooses MediaVue for
Full Content Management and E-Commerce Website. The name Donato Poveda
might not be familiar to everyone in the United States, but he is one
of the biggest stars in Latin America. He was famous in the duo Donato
y Estefano, and shortly after launching his solo career he was nominated
for Best Latin Pop Album at this year's Grammy Awards.
Poveda is a talented artist who works hard at his craft and has a busy
schedule. Of course, this leaves him little time for (or interest in)
learning how to program a website. That's why when he was looking to get
a website done, he needed one that allowed him to easily change his site
content anytime he needed to, but of course he didn't want to have to
learn HTML or website programming. After he learned about MediaVue's Content
Management System, he decided it was right for him.
The process of completing the site was straightforward. Poveda met with
MediaVue and decided on a basic design theme. After viewing a few samples,
he chose one he liked. That's pretty much all he had to do! MediaVue's
programmers then built a system that allowed Poveda to change his content
whenever he needed to.
The Content Management System, built in PHP and MySQL, allows Poveda to
login to his site at any time. He can add or delete pages, change the
navigation of his site, or change the content of any page. He can change
fonts, make certain items italicized or bold - any highlighting effect
you can think of.
He uses the Content Management System primarily to make sure his website
has the latest information about his tour schedule, to post news about
himself and his music, and to list song lyrics and other information of
interest to fans. By keeping his content fresh, he attracts more repeat
visits to his site from his fans. As befitting an international nature
of his audience star, the site provides content in both English and Spanish.
If you go to Poveda's site and spend a little time reading about him,
there's a good chance you'll want to go out and buy his music. But why
go out when you can order his music right from the site? Just click on
the Store link and you'll go to the e-commerce shopping cart section of
his site. Like the rest of the site, the e-commerce portion can be fully
managed by Poveda. He can add or delete products, change pricing, or update
descriptions whenever he wants.
The most striking features of the system are its completeness and ease
of use. Literally any page of the site can be changed using the management
system, and running the site is about as easy as using Microsoft Word.
If you want to learn about a great musical talent, go to donatopoveda.com
and see for yourself. And if you want to learn about a great Content Management
and e-commerce system, call 877.633.9536 and learn from one of MediaVue's
specialists just how easy it is.

MediaVue Completes Web Training Program for Miami Dolphins
The NFL powerhouse Miami Dolphins are merciless to their opponents on
the football filed, but when it comes to giving back to the community,
they're all heart. The organization uses its powerful image in South Florida
to support a variety of good causes.
Recently the Dolphins teamed up with MediaVue to put out a web-based application
to help young people improve their scores on the FCAT, an achievement
test given to all Florida students to measure their progress at various
stages of their education.
MediaVue started with its powerful PHP web-based training application
designed for businesses, and modified it to create a more youth-friendly
look and feel. The session starts off with an entertaining video featuring
TD, the Dolphins team mascot. The students are then led into a series
of questions that resemble the kind they would actually receive on the
test. Upon completing the test successfully, the student receives a certificate
of achievement.
The educational software was designed with maximum flexibility to allow
for individualized student-teacher interaction. For example, teachers
can set the difficulty level of the questions as appropriate for the student.
In addition, the instructor can adjust the relative proportions of verbal
versus mathematic questions depending on where each individual student
needs more practice.
Since the application is on the Internet, the student can take the practice
tests at any time and at any location. The program automatically scores
the test and keeps the results online for the teacher to review at any
time.
One unique twist to this program is that the system comes to the instructor
with hundreds of prepared math and verbal questions in it; the subject
of the questions is usually information about the Dolphins team and players.
Since this content is of more interest to many students than typical textbook
questions, they are more enthusiastic about using the software and practicing
their skills. Of course, if desired, the instructor can add additional
questions to the ones that come with the application.
MediaVue's web training software wasn't originally designed for kids -
but with a little imagination on the part of the Dolphins and a little
work on the part of MediaVue's programmers, the flexible system was quickly
adopted into a tool that makes a difference.
