Whenever a new software package is developed, it is important to not only consider what it will do but how it will do it. If you develop software that is too complicated or confusing for your customers to use, then it will not be used. When putting together a product like mviSPY, MVI spends as much as 50% of their design/development efforts on what we call “human factor engineering”. That’s simply a fancy way of saying that a lot of time is spent on figuring out the best way to lay out text, graphics, buttons, links, etc. to provide the most complete, yet easy to use/navigate application to the widest possible customer base.
mviSPY has gone through many different revisions of its UI to become what it is today. These revisions are made based on analysis of customer usage patterns along with direct customer feedback. Even though MVI and its mviSPY customer base is pretty comfortable with where mviSPY is today, there will no doubt be additional changes and revisions made to the look and feel of the system as it matures and provides additional functionality.
Successful software is software that changes with the times and with its customers and always makes use of the latest technology while maintaining an ease-of-use that its customer base is familiar with. |
