Saltwaterfish.com is a highly customized version of the O/S Commerce open source shopping cart. The site as it is today has come from years of MVI consulting with the owners/operators of Saltwaterfish.com and making changes and adjustments to better suit their own business needs as well as the needs of their customers. The back end ordering process was completely revamped to accommodate their business flow and also integrated with their existing Fedex label printing system. The site also automatically displays real time weather conditions (as pulled from weatherbug.com) on the back end shipping screens to ensure that all of their shipped live goods (fish, inverts, coral, etc.) arrive at their destinations in good condition.

There was also an extensive guarantee request/guarantee fulfillment system created that allows Saltwaterfish.com customers to easily get refunds or site credit should any of their live goods arrive deceased. If a refund/credit is requested, the Saltwaterfish.com staff can easily fulfill the request via their back end system by either refunding the money back directly on to their customer’s card (without having to go and log into their payment gateway’s site) or issue them a site credit which they can use on any future purchases. The site has sold tens of thousands of fish over the years and remains one of the leaders in their industry.
